Constructed in 1774 by Reverend Alexander Dobbin, the Dobbin House stands as Gettysburg’s oldest historical structure. This refuge played a crucial role before and during the American Civil War, acting as a station on the Underground Railroad to aid runaway slaves. During the intense Battle of Gettysburg from July 1-3, 1863, the Dobbin House served as a field hospital for both Union and Confederate forces.
